Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Miolo do Café (“this site”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information about visitors. It applies to everyone who browses coffeebreackmiollo.com, wherever you are located. By using this site, you agree to the practices described below.

Who runs this site

Miolo do Café is an independently run coffee blog. It is not a company or agency. The site is run by Ian, its administrator, and articles are published under the byline Sophia Carter. You can reach the site using the contact form.

What data we collect

Like most websites, our web server and hosting provider automatically record some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, the date and time of the request, and the page that referred you here. This standard server log data is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, and troubleshoot problems.

If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and comment you submit, and WordPress may also store your IP address and browser details to help prevent spam. This information is used only to manage and moderate discussion, and your email address is not shown publicly. If you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you send so that we can reply to you.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This site uses or may use the following types:

  • Necessary cookies — required for the site to work correctly. This includes a cookie that remembers your cookie preference, and the standard WordPress cookie that can remember your name and email for next time if you choose that option when commenting.
  • Advertising cookies — used by Google and its advertising partners to show ads, including personalized ads, if and when advertising is enabled on this site (see the Google AdSense section below).

We do not currently use analytics cookies or a third-party analytics service on this site.

When you first visit, a cookie banner offers two buttons: “Necessary only” and “Accept all”. Your choice is saved in a first-party cookie called mb_cookie_consent, which stays on your device for up to 180 days. You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Google AdSense and advertising

We have added Google AdSense code to this site in connection with our application to the Google AdSense program. At the time of this update, no ads are being displayed on this site. If we are approved and begin showing ads, the information in this section will apply.

Google, as a third-party vendor, and its advertising partners may use cookies (including advertising cookies such as the DoubleClick cookie), web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites on the internet. This is known as interest-based or personalized advertising. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show you ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites. You can learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can control or opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

If we start showing ads, we will update this policy, and where the law requires your consent for personalized ads, we intend to ask for it through a consent message that meets Google’s requirements.

Hosting and other services

This site is hosted by a third-party web hosting provider, which processes technical data (such as IP addresses) in order to deliver the site to you, and the site may load scripts from the tools provided with that hosting service. We do not currently use a third-party analytics service. If we add any new service that collects information about visitors, we will update this policy.

Your rights and legal basis

If you are located in the European Union, the UK, or the EEA, you have rights under the GDPR to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing, including for advertising purposes. If you are a California resident, you may have similar rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what data is collected and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising, where applicable.

We rely on legitimate interest for basic site functioning, such as keeping the site secure and delivering pages, and on your request when you contact us or leave a comment. For any future advertising or analytics cookies that require it, we will rely on your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Data retention and security

Comments are kept until they are deleted. Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as needed to respond to you. This site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable steps to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children’s privacy

Miolo do Café is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date below.
